Again, it has been quite some time since I last posted. We have been busy people lately! Amelia has been up to plenty. We took her to her 6 month pediatrician appointment a week ago. She is doing great, healthy head to toe. She weighs 18.8 lbs and is in the 90th percentile. She is almost 27 inches long which puts her in the 80th percentile for height and her head is in the 97th percentile at 43 cm! She's a champ when it comes to her shots these days and takes them like a big girl.
Grandpa and Grandma Lotoszinski came to visit this past week, whom she had not seen since Christmas. She had a great time playing and snuggling with them and acted as if she had just seen them. Lots of quality time was had by all and Amelia even began looking for them when she woke up. They witnessed all her new tricks. She says "ma ma" and "hi" which sounds more like "ha." A bit of a Southern accent maybe? She actually greets with this sound, as well as uses "ma ma" in appropriate context. Wow, what will she say next?
She is sitting up really well and she is active, active, active. She is constantly on the go, wanting to explore and move and roll and reach and grab... I'm betting she'll be crawling soon as she has the drive to be mobile but hasn't coordinated the movements yet. She's eating lots of different veggies but does not seem to have much of a sweet tooth (maybe that's because she doesn't have a tooth) therefore fruits aren't her favorite. She does enjoy pears so far.
She still has not cut a tooth but she sure is showing some symptoms. Gnawing, sleeplessness, and major crankiness among others. I wish it would just pop through already. What a long and uncomfortable process for babies! It's hard to imagine her with teeth, I have to admit. For some reason, my mind immediately jumps ahead to visits to the orthodontist, braces, rubberbands, headgear, that pink wax you put on the braces to keep them from poking your gums... hopefully she'll have her Dad's naturally straight teeth.
We took our first "family vacation" this past Thursday. Well, sort of. Ford was invited to perform at the International Folk Alliance Conference in Memphis. He somehow landed a room at the famous Peabody Hotel in downtown Memphis. Amelia and I were able to tag along! We had dinner at the Rendevoux BBQ joint where we enjoyed their world famous charcoal smoked and dry-rubbed ribs. Delicious and fun but poor Amelia smelled like a pork rib for the rest of the night. And the most fun of all...we got to witness the Peabody Ducks (five in all) make their daily march from the elevator (they live on the hotel roof) lead by the hotel's "Duckmaster" along the red carpet and straight into the lobby fountain where they swim all day before marching again in the evening, taking the elevator back up to their "duck palace" where they retire for the night. We missed the evening march but got front row seats for the morning march. They literally ran out of the elevator (see photo) and only caught Amelia's eye as they had already passed her by. We had to laugh at ourselves with our digital as well as video camera charged and ready as we arrived early to land a front-row spot so our 6 month old could see this funny little display. Shameless tourists and loving it. Since we were only there for one night, we did not see much of Memphis but made it a point to go to the Civil Rights Museum before leaving town. It is connected to the Lorraine Motel where Martin Luther King was assassinated. It was an incredible museum. Overall, a successful first family vacation as Amelia seemed to enjoy every minute!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend and God bless!
